Foreign Policy Implications of the DPJ Election Victory
Richard Tanter on Japanfocus.org presents an analysis of the foreign policy implications of the victory by Democratic Party of Japan in the House of Councillors election of July 29. His essay, "The End of Alliance 'Business as Usual'? Ozawa's Rejection of Japan's Indian Ocean Deployment," identifies four key initiatives undertaken by Ozawa and analyzes the potential impact on Japan's security relationship with the US. Richard Tanter is Director of the Nautilus Institute at RMIT in Melbourne and one of the editors of this blog.
