Tessa Morris-Suzuki Addresses the Comfort Women Dispute

Nautilus has published a comment by Professor Tessa Morris-Suzuki, one of the participants in our August 2006 workshop at the ANU, on Japanese Prime Minister Abe's denial that the so-called "comfort women," forced to provide sexual services for the Japanese military during World War II, were coerced to do so. This denial has once again heightened tensions in the region, especially with Korea and China, and the US Congress has also taken up the issue.
